• “Mindfulness – Being With What Is”: Residential Retreat in Donard, Co.Wicklow

    The Old Rectory is a beautiful  18th century Georgian country house, set in magnificent grounds, 3 miles from Donard in the Wicklow mountains.  This retreat with Josephine and Helen will be an opportunity to deepen your mindfulness practice through sitting, lying, walking and movement.  There will be periods of silence to support your personal practice as well as opportunities for discussion.   This retreat is relevant for graduates of 8 week Mindfulness-Based courses, but all are welcome.

    The Facilitators:

    Josephine Lynch, Lic.Ac., T.C.M.C.I., has been studying and practicing mind / body medicine since 1985.  She has been practicing meditation since she began her training in Chinese Medicine in the late ‘80s.  Josephine has been teaching mindfulness for 8 years at The Sanctuary, Stanhope Green, and she also teaches mindfulness on the graduate M.Sc. course at The Irish Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies.

    Josephine has completed her Master’s studies in Teaching Mindfulness-Based Courses to the level of a Postgraduate Diploma at the University of Wales, Bangor.  She has also gained the Certificate of Competence to Teach Mindfulness-Based Courses from the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (Bangor University), at the end of 4 years of part-time Master’s level training.

    Helen Byrne, B.A., H.Dip.Ed., Dip.Psych., has a background in education, psychology, family therapy and the community and voluntary sector.  She has been practicing meditation and yoga since 1997 and teaching them since 2004.  Helen has been studying for a Masters degree in Mindfulness-Based Approaches in Social Care, Health and Education at the University of Wales in Bangor since 2007.  She has now attained the level of Post-Graduate Diploma in Mindfulness-Based Approaches.

    Helen has also trained with Dr.s Jon Kabat-Zinn (the founder of MBSR) and Saki Santorelli, Director of the Center for Mindfulness (CFM) at The University of Massachusetts Medical Center.   She  completed an Advanced  Teacher Development Intensive in MBSR with Senior Teachers at the CFM.

    Helen has been teaching  Mindfulness-Based Approaches for 5 years in a number of contexts, including schools, addiction programmes, troubled teenagers and their parents and to the general public.

    Josephine and Helen continue to develop their practice with regular participation in trainings and  retreats and they  look forward to welcoming you to this retreat.
