• Mindfulness training with Debbie, at the Yoga room

    Mindfulness Training is a synthesis of Eastern spiritual traditions with Western sciences adapted into secular programmes widely available in mind-body medicine settings. These programmes include the work of Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
    Mindfulness is the practice of directing attention to what is happening in the present moment in contrast with more habitual states of mind in which we are often preoccupied with anxieties, worries or planning. Although we are often unaware of the current of our thinking, it has a profound effect on how we live our lives, as well on our mental and emotional health.

    Extensive research has shown that developing mindfulness has a significant positive effect on:

    • developing greater self- awareness
    • increasing ability to manage stress
    • physical and psychological health
    • reducing anxiety and depression
    • reducing tension, anger and fatigue
    • enhancing relationships
    • increasing vitality
    • aiding better sleep
    • developing stronger immunity

    FACILITATOR:
    Debbie Correll (MIACP/MIAHIP/MECP) is a psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer undertaking the MSc in Mindfulness Based Approaches at the University of Bangor, Wales, and is designing and delivering clinical adaptations in diverse contexts

    COURSE STRUCTURE:

    • A weekly, two-hour class for eight consecutive weeks
    • A one-day workshop of mindfulness practice during the course
    • 45 minutes of home practice on every non-class day for duration of course (meditation CDs and worksheets are provided)

    Jan 31st to March 20th 2012 Tuesdays 10.00am – 12.00pm
    Plus full workshop on Saturday March 10th from 10.00am – 4.00pm

    COST:
    €350.00 (includes 8 week course plus one full day of Mindfulness practice, CD’s and course workbook)
