Sheena is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with a PhD in Educational Psychology. She is a Certified MBSR Trainer and Mindfulness Outdoor Guide with additional training in mindfulness supervision, assessment of competence (Levels 1 & 2), trauma-sensitive and neurodiverse practice, communication, inquiry and group process.
Sheena trained to teach MBSR/MBCT in 2014 and has been teaching across various settings since then. She joined Mindful Academy as an MBSR Trainer/Supervisor in 2016 until 2023, co-leading the training of international MBSR trainee teachers.
In addition to MBSR, Sheena is trained to teach the Oxford Mindfulness programmes of Finding Peace in a Frantic World and Deeper Mindfulness, Exploring Feeling Tone Frame by Frame in addition to the Mindfulness in Schools Project, .bFoundations. She teaches online and in-person with community, university and corporate groups.
Sheena has worked as a Clinical Psychologist since the late 1990s, with many years spent in the public health system and later in education settings including 10 years as Director of Placements in the School of Education, UCD. She held senior roles in supporting children, families, and communities, always with a strong focus on early intervention and mental health prevention.
Sheena is based in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. Since 2020 she offers a private psychology practice for adults who may be seeking clarity, healing, and a deeper connection with themselves and their lives. Her approach blends the structure and insight of clinical psychology with the warmth and presence of mindfulness and compassion.
